Questions and answers
AstroYoda FAQ
AstroYoda calculates Vedic birth charts, kundli matching and panchang data from a real ephemeris. The answers below explain the method, what birth details are needed, how matching works and where the limits are.
What is a kundli?
A kundli is a Vedic birth chart calculated from a person's birth date, time and place. It maps the ascendant, planets, houses, nakshatras, Vimshottari dasha and traditional doshas. AstroYoda presents it as a symbolic map for reflection, not a factual prediction.
How does AstroYoda calculate a kundli?
AstroYoda converts the birth time and place to UTC, calculates planetary longitudes with a high-precision ephemeris, applies the Lahiri ayanamsa and assigns whole-sign houses from the ascendant. Vimshottari dasha is derived from the Moon's birth nakshatra.
Is the kundli calculator free?
Yes. The kundli calculator, kundli matching, panchang and the current report tabs are free to use.
Do I need my exact birth time?
An exact birth time is needed for the ascendant, house positions and dasha timing. If you do not know it, mark the time as unknown. AstroYoda uses noon and clearly marks what becomes uncertain, including the rising sign and sometimes the Moon.
What are life phases and remedies in the kundli report?
Life phases read the main houses and the current dasha as themes for education, work, partnership, family, health and meaning. Remedies are traditional practices such as mantra, charity and discipline. They are reflective suggestions, not guaranteed outcomes or a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice.
Is there a love calculator?
Yes. The love calculator uses two names and birth dates to produce a symbolic numerology score from Chaldean name numbers, life-path numbers and birthday numbers. It is not a Vedic birth-chart prediction; use kundli matching for the 36-point Moon-sign comparison.
What is kundli matching?
Kundli matching compares two birth charts using the classical 36-point Ashtakoota method: Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi. It describes Moon-sign compatibility; it is not a decision about whether a marriage should happen.
How accurate is kundli matching?
The calculation is deterministic, but the interpretation depends on birth-time accuracy, the ayanamsa, the house system and the astrologer's framework. Read the score as a starting point and examine the stronger and weaker kootas instead of treating the total as a verdict.
What is a nakshatra?
A nakshatra is one of the 27 lunar mansions, each spanning 13 degrees and 20 minutes. The birth nakshatra is the segment of the Moon at birth and is used in Vimshottari dasha, kundli matching and detailed chart interpretation.
What is Vimshottari dasha?
Vimshottari dasha is a 120-year timing system based on the Moon's birth nakshatra. It divides life into planetary periods called mahadashas and antardashas. AstroYoda shows the current chain and the upcoming periods with their dates.
Is my birth data private?
Birth details are used to calculate the chart you request. If you sign in, saved charts and matches are linked to your account. We do not sell personal information. The privacy policy sets out what is stored and why.
Can I use AstroYoda in Hindi?
Yes. Use the हिंदी में button in the header. The interface and core product pages are available in Hindi; some long-form explainer articles remain in English. PDF reports and page metadata are in English. For an important decision, switch back to English or use a qualified professional.
Can I download the kundli report?
Yes. Open your Kundali and use the Download PDF button at the top of the report. The PDF includes the chart details, life phases, dasha and remedies, and can be kept or printed.
Is astrology a substitute for professional advice?
No. AstroYoda presents astrology as a reflective tool, not medical, legal, financial or predictive advice. It is not a crisis service. For anything urgent, contact a qualified professional or local emergency services.
How often is the panchang updated?
The panchang page is calculated for the current date in New Delhi on each request. It shows tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, sunrise, sunset and related timings. The calculation uses the same ephemeris as the birth-chart tools.
Where to go next
Start with the calculation method, then create a chart or compare two charts. The explainer library covers the vocabulary used in the report.
